Pastor's Ponderings

Hosting a Book Seminar on March 3rd

I have been amazed over the last several months to find that their are more and more of His disciples rising up and saying there has got to be more to this whole church thing than what has been experienced over the last several years.  And this book is one more example of this understanding and movement.  The dialogue about the "one another passages through out the New Testament, reflects Penningtons commitment to the church being a place where disciples are made/shaped/formed/trained - disciples who make disciples.  I believe the concepts of this book are not only relevant to the church today, but necessary if a discipling culture is to develop in the church.

I recognize that parts of the following are redundit from other places on this website.
It is actually the email that was sent out to area pastors.

Trinity Church of the Nazarene will be hosting a book seminar on Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 with accomplished Christian author R. F. Pennington, focusing on his book Allelon: One Another. The leadership at Trinity strongly believes that the one another aspect of church life is a key ingredient to a strong body life, but is easily--and inadvertently--overlooked at times as we strive for greater Sunday worship experiences and church programs. Trinity has incorporated Pennington’s material into our overall thrust, with positive returns since the fall of last year!

Churches in other states have benefitted from Pennington’s material, and now we have the opportunity here in El Paso, as we strive together to win this great border city for the Master. Brother Pennington is backed by over two decades of ministry ranging from local work in three states, seminars and lectures, published writings, Bible study materials, prison ministries, counseling and building home based churches. His focus has been individuals spending time in the Word, the impetus of all Christian growth.

Allelon: One Another will be held at Trinity Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, March 3rd from 3:00-5:00 pm. A minimal cost, $15 ($20 for book sharing couples), will include a copy of the book Allelon: One Another and a working seminar outline. The seminar will be both highly informative and interactive. The book is written with a Bible class or small group study in mind, and can be previewed at the author’s website: http://sites.google.com/site/rfpennington1/

Due to the subject matter, it is hoped that pastors, preachers, ministry leaders and Bible class teachers--regardless of the age taught--will avail themselves of this timely information for the Lord’s church. Breakout, or additional small group sessions, can be held or set up at the close of the seminar. More information can be had by calling Trinity at 915.833.3813 or visiting www.trinitynazarenechurch.org. In order to assist us in book ordering, we are asking that you RSVP by e’mail or phone with a number in your group.

Our Lord, through His Word, calls us to be all that we can be in our carrying out of His Great Commission. It is our belief here at Trinity that this seminar can--and will--move us, the Lord’s Church in El Paso, to this end. May God bless our endeavors to this end.

While we're here on this earth, we belong to a family known as the church.Families take work, and Body Life is no exception. Are we doing all and being allthat we can be? No way, not even hardly! This book explores just what might be missing in your local church, and how it can be remedied--by you.
• How are we to confess our sins, pray, encourage, teach and admonish one another if we don’t know one another? Answer: we can't. Remedy? -- get to know one another. Some church families do a great job at this. Some do a lousy job…
• Just as we put the One Another command of forbearance into plain English (puttin’ up with), let's put forgiveness there, too. Give it up and get over it. No, I'm not being silly: Get over it!...
• The prophet Jonah and the Elder Brother of Luke 15 were angry and discontented at the good in someone else's life. That’s a dumb way to be. Imagine, being all bent out of shape because something good happened in someone else's life...
• Why the church and not some other way? Why not save us, and then let us go on our walk the best we know how without the responsibility of a family? Why are we our brother's keeper? Because there is a race that needs running, and finishing...

This book is ideal for Bible classes or small groups. Each section ends with questions to assist the groupleader. A Must Read for church leaders and disciples interested in growth and body life.
